Ruth Belov Gross was born March 1, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA. Jack Kent wrote and illustrated about 40 children's books during his career and illustrated nearly 20 by other authors. He began his career as a free-lance commercial artist, created a comic strip "King Aroo" which was syndicated from 1950 to 1965.
